About Me

The Face Behind The Jewelry Pliers

Hi! My name’s Ellie Ransom (she/they). Thank you so much for supporting my small business!! I create every piece happily for you.

Based in Washington, D.C., I work full-time at a nonprofit serving immigrant youth, and outside of my love for crafting, social justice is at the center of everything for me. My free time is full of beads, chains, and superglue. I’ve been creating art of practically every media since I could hold paint and a camera, but I especially adore handcrafting and filmmaking, and dream of being a Creative Director. Camp Wonderland is all about celebrating what brings me joy — colors, fashion, playful imagination, gay stuff, etc. I hope my creations bring you joy and inspire you to show the world more love!

Why Camp Wonderland?

I went to an overnight summer camp for one week as a child. Years later, I still remember how scared and out of place I felt. When imagining a world for my shop, I was inspired to create the summer camp of my dreams. A place for everyone. Especially for everyone who’s ever felt like they don’t belong. At Camp Wonderland, we play, we sing, we dance, we craft, we explore, we imagine, we question, we are loud and silly and unapologetic and we live to have fun! When you wear my creations, I hope you bring this energy into the world. I hope you feel like a kid again. I hope you feel like a bad bitch. I hope you meet new people and share joy with them. I hope you feel confident and colorful like the rainbow you are! ☺

IN THE MEDIA

“Independent queer accessory creator Camp Wonderland has a whole collection of adorable, trinket-laden carabiners inspired by the discography of your favorite artist’s favorite artist. Bonus: Chappell herself has worn a Camp Wonderland necklace.”
